Why use purchasing contracts?
Purchasing contracts allow you to purchase furniture at pre-determined discounts. The amount of the discount can vary depending on the dollar amount of the purchase; the larger the purchase, the larger the discount. If you qualify for the Connecticut State Contract or participate with the Massachusetts Higher Education Consortium (MHEC), you can get the best pricing without going through the bid process. This also helps you save money on the forgotten costs of bidding: the fees needed to prepare the bid package, respond to questions, review the bid submissions, and compare products submitting as “equals”. Not to mention that the successful bid might not be the product you preferred or the vendor you’d like to work with. Purchasing on contract helps you avoid all of this and ensure that you get the product you want.
